Ho’oponopono is an ancient Hawaiian spiritual practice that involves learning to heal all things in our reality by consciously choosing to accept “Total Responsibility” for everything that surrounds us in our physical reality by a simple process of confession, repentance, and reconciliation.
The practicing idea of using this method stems from a humbling place of expression of a community based restorative justice process of self healing not only ourselves but anything we see in our world. Over my many 7+ years of practicing this technique it has been a major element in my own success & has been an essential technique in my health from healing physical illnesses as well as transform my relationships. In contemporary times, a simple but profound mantra arising from this practice has been found to have a powerful healing energy that promotes radical shifts within the mind & the body. It offers the essence of compassion & empathy on a collective level in action and arises from the deepest principle of our interconnectedness that we all share.
This process can be confronting & hard to swallow as it requires us to hold ourselves 100% accountable for everything we see in this world while giving us the opportunity to heal on larger scales rather than the idea of just “ME” & that there is no such experience that I experience first hand even via observation of some experience in your outward environment as it really doesn’t matter but more so the question would be “what is it that is going on inside of me that I am now witnessing this through the eyes of my view of reality & how I am part of it meaning I share some sort of responsibility for the experience.
You may have heard of the story about a Hawaiian therapist, Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len, who cured an entire ward of violent criminally insane patients & the best part was without ever meeting any of them physically spending not one moment in the same room. When he arrived at the residential treatment center each day the cure rates were abysmal, the morale was very low, & employee turnover very high almost of the weekley. Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len chose to on each day lock himself away in his office each day, after day as to the consternation of the staff… But after some weeks of this practice things began to radically change & patients were getting better, while the staff was improving & seemed a lot more happier being at work. So the question then the whole world asked was how had he done this healing only by using a practice not using traditional medical methods of treatment? Well each day in his room he would review each of the patients’ files & and then would start to use the simple method of healing whatever was going on within him for him to be witnessing such pain, suffering & discord.
It seems miracles do happen when you use this method, which Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len calls as Self I-Dentity Through Ho’oponopono (SITH). Now this method has been evolved from an older traditional style of Ho’oponopono that required a facilitator as you worked in group sessions to talk out problems, issues & health issues using the same process of confession, repentance, and reconciliation for healing & transformation purposes but what Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len had come across in his discovery & deeper understanding that there was no “Out there” like he use to say & that the work can all be done within ourselves at any place & at any time & space without anyone other then our inner environment & the divine presence of love the universe emits…

These are the four simple steps to using this method of Self I-Dentity Through Ho’oponopono (SITH). Now the order is not of a huge importance but more so having the deeper understanding of the practice or idea applied with your Intention that involve the power of Repentance, Forgiveness, Gratitude and Love.
Step 1: Repentance – I’M SORRY FOR CAUSING MORE SEPARATION
This tradition is a process that states that you are 100% responsible for everything (data/information) that is playing in your mind even if it seems to be “out there physically.” Once you realize that & accept the idea it becomes very natural to feel sorry & show empathy towards everything in one’s life. This realisation can be painful, and you will likely cause much inner & outer resistance accepting responsibility for the “out there” kind of problems but until you start to practice this method on your more obvious “in here inner problems” you will start to notice major shifts within yourself allowing magic to then play out as your physical environment shifts & adapts to a new state of being within..
So you could choose something to start the practice of this brilliant technique that you are already aware such as something in your life that you’ve caused for yourself such as as past behaviour or experience you did not like that caused you guilt & shame to being addicted to nicotine, alcohol or some other substance. Do you have anger issues? Health problems? & if so start there & start by saying a deep & meaningful apologetic sorry to yourself, you will be amazed on how self loving & liberating this process can be..
Really what is happening underneath you are saying this is, “I realize that I am responsible for the (issue) in my life and I feel terrible remorse that something in my consciousness or some connection in consciousness has caused this.” but right now the deeper meaning is to express that I am sorry for not seeing divinity or god present in this situation or event that I am experiencing as I see through the eyes of my world…
Step 2: Ask Forgiveness – PLEASE FORGIVE ME
.Just ask divinity/god/universal love! PLEASE FORGIVE ME. Say it over and over with an emotional trueness of truly meaning it sincerely & remember your remorse from step 1 as you ask to be forgiven for whatever it is you have created in your own lives to to anything you see in another because there is no difference. At some point in time we have experienced anger or pain so we must take that responsibility & transform that energy to set ourselves free & anyone else that is tired in the collective consciousness to that experience.
Step 3: Gratitude – THANK YOU
Say “THANK YOU” – As if you are so grateful again for the universe for showing you what it was you needed to work upon/heal or transmute within ourselves as it doesn’t really matter who or what you’re thanking but more so being grateful & thankful for having the opportunity to now shift this energy & set it free with love. Thank your whole body for all it does for you…Thank yourself for being the best you can be right now…Thank God….Thank the Universe & Thank whatever it was that just forgave you for elevating any of that pain, sorrow & trauma….Just keep saying THANK YOU.
Step 4: Love – I LOVE YOU
This can also be step 1. Say I LOVE YOU with the full force of your heart & say it to your whole body, your whole mind, say it to god, say it to your children but most of all Say I LOVE YOU to the air you breathe in each moment, to the house that shelters you & keeps you warm to the water you get to drink daily. Say I LOVE YOU to all of your challenges & obstacles that have caused you adversity. Say it over and over again & mean it with intention, feel it throughout your whole being..Nothing in this world or the universe at whole has anymore strength & power then the power of what LOVE can do not only for yourself but the world at large…
